Selmar was established in the late 70s between an incipient development of the fishing industry, but it was not until 80s where the company grew in the area of marine electronics in Chile. This development brought intensive work first in Talcahuano and then in the north of Chile. The old tube technology opened the way for the new generation of integrated circuits. The need for repair of acoustic equipment, navigation equipment and communication also gives the fruit to a new activity and as a result Selmar Ltda born as marine electronics service company. In mid 80's the need to incorporate new equipment in the marine area emerged in the north and south of Chile, which led Selmar to search and get the representation of the longest existing company in the area of marine electronics in the world, JRC. In early 90s Selmar plans carefully a new stage in business, keeping the activities that was developing at the moment and and expanding the business to high sea vessels, Army shipyards and individuals (sport fishing and sailing). Together with this change, our company develops inspections, repair, installation and maintenance of marine electronics equipment in foreign countries.
These days our company is in change always searching for better customer service (sales, after-sales and service) and better and more efficient technologies, always maintaining the standards in price-quality and giving a quality post-sales service. To accomplish this, we have a highly qualified staff, trained to confront any situation and counting with a technical laboratory full of state of the art technologies tools.
Today our company is classified by ABS , GL , DNV , NKK , Lloy´s Register for GMDSS, VDR, AIS inspections for all kind of vessels. Among years Selmar Limitada has taken representations and formed commercial agreements with the mos significant companies in the world in marine electronics field, all this to satisfy the requirements of our clients, to help for a better communication and help in the efficiency of our clients work. Our commercial stability, together with the always improving technical knowledge, Makes us a reliable company for our clients witch has preferred us for years.
